Originally a Hollywood actor, George Nader (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Nader ) did movies in Europe and then turned author. Nader was born in Pasadena, California and from his humble beginnings rose to becoming a Golden Globe award winner. He was creative to the core. After his acting career came to an abrupt stop, he turned his creative potential to writing. Nader authored two books on homosexual theme and they were both quite well received.
George Nader led a roller coaster life with many ups and downs. He settled down in the romantic way quite early in his life when he met his lifelong partner Mark Miller on the sets of Pasadena Playhouse. It was Miller who helped Nader wade through murky waters and difficult times. At the beginning of his career, it was Miller who paid for head shots and rental bills by doing odd jobs.
When Nader landed a contract with Universal Pictures after doing Robot Monster (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot_Monster ), Miller was introduced to Hudson. Soon, George Nader, Mark Miller and Rock Hudson became very fast friends. During the famous scandal in which Hudson came out with his AIDS, the media harassed Nader and Miller in accepting their fears. However, they were steadfast in maintaining strong platonic relations with Hudson.
When Hudson passed away he left all his estate amounting to a staggering $27 million to Nader and Miller jointly. This was around the 80’s when homosexuality was a huge taboo. The death of a friend affected this couple to come out with their own love for each other in a very public way.
During the course of Nader’s life, there have been many movies and more real life episodes. He had to quit his Hollywood career because ‘Confidential’ had threatened to leak an expose on him and Hudson. However, George Nader was one to always have his head on his shoulders and he never allowed setbacks to take precedence in his life.
